a Brief rundown on starting the PMDG. Not from cold and dark. Just some basic themes: FMC setup before engine start, quick Overhead Panel prestart flow through check, Engine start, use of Flight Director, Autothrottle and MCP and LNAV/VNAV systems on takeoff.
how do u do the route from CYYZ (toronto) to KJFK (NYC)???!!!
Do you use the default FS planner to navigate? If not, How do you make the ATC to cooperate with the FMC. Because sometimes when you go offcourse the ATC will start nagging. I hope that makes sense.
Also, although I’m not sure whether this is much an issue on 747, but the hydraulic/electric pumps either A or B that powers the flaps must be off before restoring hydraulic pressure during APU/engine start (flap will be move without clearance). Nose wheel gear pressure also restores on that particular reservoir making pushback a little more resilient.
It is interesting to know for reallife procedures but not in the sim, but it helps and makes it interestingly reliastic and rewarding!
I also have an FCOM which I’m currently in the process of finishing, this allows me to understand the effects of pressing a switch, the procedures, everything there is to now regarding the 737/3. Set the cabin pressure at 200 feet below field elevation to maintain .125 differential/prs bumps in flight mode before departure, reset during the climb.
It is also handy to purchase simplates X which will allow you to fly an approach as precisely as possible not to mention more realistically.
I have the wilco PIC 737 which utilises the full replicated version of the CDU, which makes entering a flighplan onto it an absolute dream. However calculations need to be made such as the grossweight/reserve fuel and eco / cruise alt / oat etc before a ZFW can be calculated on the performance page and V numbers and approach speeds set up. Position update can be made on the runway and on the dep/arr button SID/STARS can be selected for that route.
