My cousin is one of those guys that really do not take a No for an answer.

He is a retired pilot that runs a small successful business. He recently decided to buy an aircraft so that he can “take his family for holidays”, as he told us.

I was very curious to see how he would succeed to do it, this time. The result was incredible.

He found out that one can buy repossessed airplanes from online auctions for a fraction of their original price. The idea is brilliant and here is why:

- Repossessed airplanes are usually in very good shape.

- Airplane auctions are rarely known and as a result the bids remain extremely low

- An online auction is even better as an idea as it assures that you can find all the airplanes you desire without having to go through the grueling procedure of having to search for them and then travel to the destination of the auction without being sure that you will find an aircraft after all.

Once you find such an online auction site for repossessed airplanes, you just log in and select the aircraft you like. You then bid and hopefully you win. Then you have a certain time to accept or decline the aircraft and a limited number of times that you can do this.

I could still see his satisfaction once the aircraft became airborne.

“Where do we go ?”, I asked.

“For a coffee!”, he told me.

The difference was that the coffee was 600Km away from our hometown…

The story of buying that plane was actually kind of sad and funny in an interesting way. If you want to find out where it all started just look here:
