Portable DVD Players are becoming very popular these days because they give you the ability to take all of your favorite movies, music, and pictures while you’re on the go. With a Portable DVD Player you’ll never have to be stuck in a car, airplane, or hotel room bored again!

It’s important that you know what you will be using your Portable DVD Player for before you buy it so that your all of your needs are met. Many people buy Portable DVD Players based on a single attribute, such as the screen size of the player. Though buying the biggest screen size can enhance your viewing experience, what good is a Portable DVD Player if you can’t carry it around with ease?

Below you will find a few things that our product specialists recommend our customers to look for in before buying a Portable DVD Player.

Screen Size: The screen size of a Portable DVD Player can make a significant impact on the viewing experience. If the screen is too small you won’t be able to see details that might play a big role in the movie. On the other hand, if the screen is too big the DVD Player might loose its “portability”, making it difficult to carry around.

Battery Life: If you plan on using the Portable DVD Player for long periods of time without being on charge, you may want to consider the amount of playback time the battery provides. If the battery life isn’t longer than two hours, then you probably wont be able to watch a movie from beginning to end. Try to get a portable DVD player that can offer more than two hours of playback time (so it lasts longer than the length of an average movie).

Disc Compatibility: You may want to consider the types of discs that the Portable DVD Player is compatible with before making your purchasing decision. For example, if you want to burn DVD’s from your computer, make sure that the Portable DVD Player can play the DVD-R or DVD-RW formats.

Portability: You may want to consider how “Portable” the DVD Player is before making a purchasing decision. If the DVD Player is too big and bulky, it might be difficult for you to carry around. Though as technology advances, even Portable DVD Players with large screen sizes are becoming extremely compact.

Included Accessories: The accessories that come with the Portable DVD Player should have a big impact on your purchasing decision. If you find a Portable DVD Player at a great price, but lacks many of the accessories that other Portable DVD Players come with you might just end up having to pay more in the long run. Consider accessories such as AC/DC Adapters, Remote Controls, AV Cables, S-Video Cables, Car Adapters, Car Mounts, Headphones, etc.

Definitions:

AC Adapter: An external power supply for your camera or other electronic device that converts AC (alternating current) from a wall plug to DC (direct current). Some AC adapters also double as rechargers.

AV Cables: Audio and Video Cables, which transfer the audio and video information from one electronic device to another.

S-Video (Separated Video): An analog video signal that carries the video data as two separate signals.

General information on low cost airlines

Low cost airlines and their fares deeply changed the flight sector. A low cost (or no frills, or low fares) is an airline company that offers flights at very competitive prices (Cheap Flights) by not offering or by selling most of passenger services (like on-board meals, seats bookings, etc.). Cheap flights were born in USA in 1971 with Southwest Airlines, and started spreading in Europe at the beginning of the ’90s with Ireland’s Ryanair.

Statistics and history in brief

To point out the strong growth of low cost flights we will show a few stats: in 1994 about 3 million passengers flew low cost, most of them with Ryanair, and in 1995 they reached 17,5 million.

In 1995 British Airways founded their cheap flights division named Go, operating from London Stanstead airport in 1998. The same year Go started operating form London Luton as well. In the year 2000, Go was sold to EasyJet.com with an operational loss of over 21 million Pounds. In 2000 KLM also entered the low cost world with Buzz, which was bought over by Ryanair in 2003 with very high losses. Currently EasyJet.com and Ryanair are among the most successful European low cost airlines, and operate over several hundred routes.

Today’s market situation sees a strong and constant growth of the cheap flights sector, new routes being opened every day by all main airlines, In the future a strong growth of low cost companies it is foreseen also in the long range flights segments.

Why low cost flights are such

Low cost airlines are very flexible and efficient organizations with a cost structure that is very different from the one of traditional airlines. Cutting many costs allows them to offer very competitive prices.

Costs are optimized mainly in the following areas:

- Tickets sales are direct, Internet being the main channel. By shortening the intermediation chain, costs can be deeply reduced.

- Smaller and cheaper airports are used, that are also less jammed by traffic.

- On-board services and crews. No meals are served. Fewer crew members are used, and airplanes need less cleaning.

- Full usage of aircraft capacity. Airplanes always fly full charge and fly more often to amortize costs. They have faster load/download times (25/35 minutes vs. 2 hours of traditional companies).

- Newer and all equal aircraft. Low cost companies fleets are made all of the same make of planes, all new ones and easy to service, in order to have them all at maximum efficiency.

Characteristics of low cost companies

To operate cheap flights, airlines must have specific characteristics to allow them to keep prices as low as possible. The basic ones are:

- A single passenger class, with free choice of the seating place.

- A single airplane make (in order to optimize service costs), such as Airbus A320s or Boeing 737s (for instance: Ryanair uses Boeing 737 series, EasyJet favors both Boeing 737s and Airbus A319s).

- Airplanes have more seats (for instance, Lufthansa’s Boeing 737s carry 132 passengers, EasyJet’s ones carry 148).

- Lower weight allowance for both hand carried and stored luggage.

- No free meals or beverages are served on board, but they are available to buy.

- Crew members fulfill multiple tasks (mainly stewardesses and stewards).

- Intensive use of airfleets. For instance, EasyJet flies an average of 10.7 hours a day, while British Airways flies 7.1 hours. Airport stops are shorter (with a faster turnover, usually 25 minutes between flights), and flights are shorter too.

- Connections are made using convenient secondary airfields, often far away from town centers, without slot restrictions, little air traffic and lower airstrip fares.

- Straight peer-to-peer connections without luggage transfers to other coincident flights (separate check-in and check-out), no coordinate flight plans with other airlines.

- Expenditure savings trough direct ticket sales, especially trough the Internet and outsourced call centers, automated check-ins and, occasionally service fees.

- Certain offers (as low as 0.99?) are only valid for in-advance bookings or are limited offers, for a relatively low number of seats.

- Lean management (savings on staff). For instance, Germanwings in Cologne employs no more than 50 people.

It isn’t easy to be low cost: flops

There were new low cost companies that flew only a few months, or even only a few days, like Ireland’s JetGreen Airways, that stopped all activities in May 2004 after only one week without paying back about 40.000 already sold tickets.

- V Bird flew from October 23, 2003 to October 8, 2004 from Düsseldorf.

- VolareWeb, low cost daughter of Italy’s Volare went bankrupt on November 23, 2004. On October 30, 2004 they stopped at once their flights between Germany and Italy. In June 2005 they started to fly again, mainly to domestic destinations and a few European ones.

Several more or less known flops were: Minerva, Gandalf, Azzurra, Air Sicilia, ItalAir, Air Libertè.

When to book

It is usually better to book your cheap flights in large advance, at least 15 days before leaving. Better offers are for departures from Mondays to Thursdays: Better to avoid leaving on week ends. Always buy return tickets and be ready to take off at unusual times (early mornings or late evenings).

Canceling or modifying bookings

Before booking read thoroughly the company’s regulations about cancelling or modifying bookings! Usually cheap flights tickets not used on the booked flight are not payed back as recession rights for long distance travel do not apply to this kind of sales. About changing departure dates, every company have different regulations, which you better always check on the company’s site. Usually changing dates is not convenient. It is better to loose your old ticket and buy a new one.

How to pay

To shorten intermediation chains, thus offering competitive prices, low cost airlines use favor Internet and call canters (these may apply a small overcharge). Therefore be ready to pay via credit card (payments are secure, to verify be sure that Internet addresses change form http: to https:).

Cheap Flights Confirmation and check in

If you book on line, you will receive a confirmation mail at the e-mail address you specified. For telephone bookings at a call center, you will receive confirmation via fax, e-mail or, eventually by regular mail. In the last case, certain companies ask for a small overcharge if sending via messenger mail. If you are e-booking, that means if you buy your ticker on line, you receive confirmation via e-mail. It is enough to print it out and to show it at the booking counter at the airport.

Secure on line payments

On line payments are preferred by low cost airlines. To guarantee discretion in data transfer on the web, credit cards use the most advanced SSL (Secure Socket Layer) technology. When paying, if your browser uses SSL you just select Protected Mode and your data will be protected. If the browser has limitations, you can use Unprotected Mode. We recommend to get hold of the latest version to be able to carry out without problems all transactions.

Watch out for taxes and extras

Unfortunately, in offers of may low cost airlines there is a not yet regulated very bad habit of give only a partial price, not including overcharges and extras. So don’t be fooled by offers at 0.01 cents, always calculate global prices including taxes, overcharges and fuel costs. Sometimes there are huge differences in price.

Get organized for transportation

Low cost companies usually fly from secondary airfields that can be very far from final destinations (there are almost 70 miles from Stanstead to London), so make sure you know your way out (costs, timings and transportation time) and get organized to reach your destination.

Your luggage

Luggage transport is another point to pay attention to when flying low cost to avoid spending more on extra allowances than on tickets. Extra payload is usually very expensive and companies are very strict about it. So pay extreme attention to luggage overweight regulations and “weigh well” your suitcases.

iPod Basics and Purchasing Guide

So, you are looking to purchase an iPod? Please take the time to read this brief article which will at best help you get the most out of your new iPod, and at the least, help you avoid mistakes and misconceptions. This article is written out of my personal experience with iPods.

1. What is an iPod?

An iPod is a MP4 player, not a MP3 player. Basically, the MP4 format is a proprietary format only recognized by Apple products, such as iPods and QuickTime™. In order for music to play on an iPod, it must be in MP4 format. Apple’s music download site, iTunes™, offers music only in the MP4 format. The iTunes™ software which comes with an iPod will convert MP3 music files to MP4 format, so they will play on your iPod. An iPod will not play MP3 files, neither will Windows Media Player play MP4 files. Both the Nano and Video iPod will store and display photos, but a video iPod is needed to play video files.

2. What is iTunes?

® Apple hosts the world’s largest music download site called iTunes™. As of March 2006, over 1 billion files have been downloaded for use in iPods. Pretty amazing. This site offers music files for 99 cents each, and you need not download an entire album, but can select only the music files you want and download it into your computer. The iTunes™ software in your computer is the vehicle by which files are loaded into the iPod. Simply place your iPod into its dock (which is attached via USB to your computer), start iTunes™ and your iPod is updated automatically with new music, playlists, Podcasts and so forth. I have tried other music download sites and have not found any which I like as well as iTunes™, even though they may offer music cheaper than iTunes™. A basic search will locate alternative music download sites.

There are a variety of other files available on iTunes™ called Podcasts. These are audio or video files which include news broadcasts, informational programs, comedy programs and many others. The great majority of Podcasts are free, and others are not.

3. What You Get

iPods come with the following:

iPod with battery

Earphones (called “earbuds”)

A generic pouch for the earbuds

A docking station (to transfer files and charge the iPod)

iTunes™ software CD

Instruction manual

That is all.

4. What You will Need

Every iPod user will need a case, and we strongly recommend a screen protector.

Both the iPod Nano and 5th generation (5G) Video iPod are susceptible to scratching, and the black units seem to show scratches worse than the white ones. This is true of both the iPod housing AND the screen. Nothing is worse than having your iPod blemished with unsightly scratches, especially when it is easily avoidable by using a case and screen protector. Having your unprotected iPod floating around inside your purse or in your pocket will absolutely cause your iPod to quickly accumulate scratches both on the housing and on the screen. Be warned! This is not really a defect, but just the way it is.

5. Using iPods in your Car

Most people quickly realize that it would be great to be able to have their iPod play music through their car stereo. No longer would they have to mess with CDs or tapes. How many CDs would you have to carry to have your entire music library with you in the car? You can take it all in the palm of your hand with an iPod. So, how does one play music through their car stereo? There are several options.

First, there are cables available for most car stereos which plug into the iPod and the other end of the cable plugs into a port on the back of the stereo. Removal of the stereo is usually required to accomplish this task. Also, the wire used to connect your iPod is exposed. It does, however, sound great! Some car stereos have a line input on the faceplate. In this case, all one needs to do is use an adaptive cable from the headphone jack of the iPod to the input on the stereo. In both of these scenarios, the iPod will run on its internal battery unless a car charger is used as well.

Second, (and by far the most popular) method, is to use an FM transmitter to transmit a signal from your iPod to your FM radio and play it as if it were a radio station. There are a variety of FM transmitters from several manufacturers. We recommend using a unit which is a dock and not a plug into the iPod port. The plug-in units consume power from the iPod battery and seem to produce a weak signal resulting in poor audio quality. A docking unit (such as the Griffin RoadTrip™) holds your iPod in place, charges the iPod and produces a strong signal. The RoadTrip™ also features a removable FM module which allows it to plug into your computer. You can therefore listen to FM radio through your computer without having to install software.

6. Using iPods at Home

iPods can easily play through your home stereo. One can simply use an adaptive cable which plugs into the headphone jack of the iPod and into the stereo input of your stereo. In this setup, the iPod is operating on battery power unless the iPod is also plugged into a charger.

Docking your iPod is the preferred method, and there are a variety of docking solutions available. The iPod docks into a base which charges the iPod, and an output jack on the base connects the iPod to your stereo via a cable. Some units offer remote controls for your iPod and others do not, but often these remotes are weak and have very limited range and field of reception. We have found that some television or stereo programmable remote control units can be programmed to work with certain iPod docking systems, while others work partially or not at all. It is worth trying if you have a programmable remote.

Some docking units also have a video output for use with the 5G Video iPod, which allows one to watch videos or photos stored in the iPod on a television. We have found that the picture quality is poor on large screen televisions, but ok on a smaller screen. Using a dock with S-video output will provide a far superior picture than units using an RCA connector. As of now, iPods do not support high definition.

There are speaker systems which contain their own amplifier and operate as a stand-alone unit with an iPod. These are not all created equal. Our testing has found that a high price does not always equal high quality. We have found $150 systems which in our opinion sound significantly superior to $400 units. It is best to listen to the various systems before making your selection; or if buying online, follow the recommendations of the seller IF they have tested the systems and can provide you with recommendations based on testing results.

There are alarm clock radios (such as iHome™) which allow you to go to sleep listening to your iPod and wake up to it as well. We have tested the iHome™ and others, and found iHome™ to be our unit of choice.

7. Loading Movies into Your 5G Video iPod

When the Video iPod first came out, I gave it a high ranking on the “Dumb-O-Meter.” Who wants to watch a movie on a 2.5 inch screen? However, after having used one, I have recanted my original opinion. It is now my iPod of choice. Unfortunately, iTunes™ and other MP4 download sites usually have little to offer in the way of legal movies which are formatted to play on an iPod. ITunes™ does have some short films, music videos and television shows, but not much else.

An easy solution for this is to convert your own DVDs into a format that the iPod can play. This can be accomplished by means of a software product called a DVD to iPod converter, such as Cucusoft, Lenogo and others. It is a simple process. Put a DVD in your computer, start the converter program and let it convert the movie to iPod format. Then, move the converted file into your iTunes™ video list. The next time you dock your iPod to your computer, it will load into your iPod. Some converter programs will also convert AVI, MPEG, MPG, WMV and other computer video formats for use on an iPod. This can allow you to convert your family videos and view them on your ipod. IPod movies are great for entertaining children on the road, for the business traveler stranded at an airport or for long airplane trips.

DVD converters we recommend are available here.

8. iPods and your PC

The music files for your iPod are stored in two places: in your PC in the iTunes™ program, and in your iPod. If your PC crashes and you loose your hard drive or have to reformat, you will loose EVERYTHING contained in your iTunes™ folder, including all of the songs you have purchased from iTunes™. Furthermore, iTunes™ does not offer the means to re-download songs you have purchased for free. You will have to buy them again. Neither does the iPod come with a means to load files into a computer. Fortunately, there are software programs which allow you to copy the contents of your iPod into a PC or from one iPod to another. These programs are usually titled “iPod to PC”, or something similar. If your computer crashes, you will kick yourself for not having this program to restore your music files back into your computer.

IPod to PC programs we recommend are available here.

Hannover is the ninth largest airport in the whole of Germany and it has the unique Airport code HAJ. Hannover international airport has been operational since the 1950’s.

Hannover international airport is also called Langenhagen Airport as it is situated near to a town known as Langenhagen.

Hannover international airport is open 24 hours a day though in actual fact you will not find many flights operating between the hours of 1 am and 4 am.

Hannover international airport is also only a short drive way (11 kilometres) from the town of Hannover which is capital of the German state of Lower Saxony.

The terminals at Hannover international airport have become renowned architecturally in Germany for their excellent modern design. So good was the design that it inspired the plan for an airport in Moscow, Russia.

Hannover international airport has four terminals, terminal A, terminal B, terminal C and terminal D.

Terminal A has a number of domestic and international flights.

For instance you can fly to Copenhagen in Denmark with Scandinavian Airlines system, Amsterdam in Holland with KLM cityhopper and Riga in Latvia with Air Baltic.

In terms of flights within Germany there are routes to major cities such as Berlin and Frankfurt with the German air carrier Lufthansa. While Lufthansa handles a huge number of flights at Hannover international airport, the aviation company TUI fly is also a very well used carrier.

Some of the many airlines to fly from terminal B in
Hannover international airport are the Russian carrier Aeroflot, Croatia airlines, Flybe, Hamburg international airlines, Pegasus Airlines, Turkish Airlines and Eurocypria airlines. These companies offer a number of flights throughout exciting European destinations. Flybe in particular has cheap flights to Britain.

From terminal C in Hannover international airport (which was opened in 1998 as the airport tried to accommodate more and more passengers) it is possible to fly to Alicante in Spain, Sharm El Sheik in Egypt, Palma de Mallorca in Mallorca, Fuerteventura and Tenerife south in the Canary Islands and Milan Bergamo in Italy as well as many, many others. When terminal C was added, eight more gates were built at Hannover international airport.

Terminals A to C of Hannover international airport have sizeable runways and can all hold big planes such as a Boeing 747.

The only air traffic to fly from terminal D are Royal Air Force troops going from Britain to Germany and Omni Air International flights.

To start with most flights from Hannover international airport were directed through Frankfurt international airport. This is no longer the case and you can get plenty of direct flights to world wide destinations. Hannover international airport is second only to Frankfurt international airport in terms of air traffic to countries in Eastern Europe.

However, though they were trial runs for flights to Canada and the United States of America, not enough passengers took these up.

Up until 1990 Hannover international airport hosted Germany’s largest air show, the Internationale Luft und Raumfahrtausstellung. However an accident with a helicopter in 1988 caused injury to some of the people involved and the show is now in Berlin.

Travelling on from Hannover international airport you can rent one from a large fleet of vehicles. Rhino can provide compact, small and large models, economy, standard, intermediate, large, multi purpose, convertible, luxury, executive and prestige cars for every type of customer and our friendly staff can meet you as soon as you step off the plane.

It is also possible to catch the S Bahn from Hannover international airport.

Robert Frische wrote this article about Hannover international airport as part of a series about Germany for Rhino Car Hire Hannover Airport

iPod Basics and Purchasing Guide

At HomeComputerGames.com we get a lot of emails from parents asking about the various types of video games and gaming systems that are available. More than once I have heard “What exactly is a Halo 3?

I can see how this can all be a bit daunting to a parent buying video games for their children. With so many different types of systems available it is often hard for someone that doesn’t play video games to keep up with it all. There is Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, PS2, PSP, RPG, ESRB…..

Here I have put together this Parent’s Guide to Video Game Systems in hopes that I might help prevent some poor parent from suffering the shame and embarrassment of not knowing what the hell your kid is talking about.

To start you may want to familiarize yourself with some of the components of a “Gaming Systems”.
Each Gaming System has it’s own technology and is comprised of the following:

Gaming Console: This is the actual component that the gaming media that contains the actual game, such as a DVD or CD, is played on. Without this there is no gaming system as this contains your CPU, memory, and other such input and output ports.

Gaming Controllers: These are your input device for playing the game. These are much like a mouse or keyboard that you use on your computer. Many controllers contain an array of buttons that perform various actions such as making a character in the game run or shoot a gun or some other assigned function. **A PC is a type of gaming system and in turn gaming systems are a type of PC

Video Game Media: The most common type of Video Game Media are DVD, CD, Gaming Cartridge, and downloaded files. **Note that each video game is proprietary to it’s own Gaming System but may exist for several different types of Gaming Systems. So you might find a certain game is available for the PC and for the Xbox 360 but not available for Nintendo Wii or PS3. Each video game will state on the cover what Gaming System it is for.

Viewing Screen:The Gaming Console has to be connected to some sort of monitor or TV to view the game on. Some of the Portable Gaming Systems have small Monitors built into them much like many cellphones now have. In fact many cellphones contain gaming systems along with the rest of their many functions.

This section below explains several of the more popular gaming systems along with the necessary hardware. Some gaming systems may have gaming accessories that are compatible for other types of gaming consoles. But this is not the norm and for the most part gaming consoles have their own “proprietary” gaming accessories and games.

Gaming Systems:
Listed are some of the more popular Gaming Systems

PC:
Some will argue that the PC is not the most popular gaming system but more games are created and played on the PC than on all of the other Gaming Systems put together. The reason is the PC has been around longer and can perform other functions besides just being a gaming system. The PC is often an entry into video games as many families have personal computers and laptops. There are many thousands of video games available for the PC, many of which are not available for any of the other Gaming Systems.
There are also many websites that have video games free to download or play online at no cost. Just Google free PC games and you will find a ton of arcade sites that allow you to play their games for free.

Technical Specs
This list could be vast and would change almost daily so only the basic details are listed.
Manufacturer: Various, Dell, HP, Gateway, etc..
Game Media: DVD, CD, online downloadable files, online remote hosted media (flash games etc..)
Viewing Screen: PC Monitor
Online Playable: YES
Available Controller Slots: Various
Number of Games Available: Untold thousands
Gaming Accessories: mouse, keyboard, guitar and other musical instruments, joystick (flight stick), airplane throttle controlls, gaming automobile steering wheel and pedals, headset, video / webcam, surround sound system, Data storage (hard drive), other

Xbox 360:
The Xbox 360 is Microsoft’s gaming system and is an upgrade from their original gaming system the Xbox. The Xbox 360 is probably the most popular gaming system outside of the PC though the Nintendo Wii surpassed the Xbox 360 in sales. Recently Microsoft lowered what was a very expensive gaming system making it more affordable to consumers. As a result sales have soared and has insured that the Xbox 360 will be around for some time to come. There is a vast array of video games available for the Xbox 360 covering all genres from the hard core shooter games to the more family oriented classic games such as Monopoly. The Xbox 360 is also backwards compatible for many of it’s predecessor the Xbox.

Many new releases for the Xbox 360 are anticipated with zeal from gamers with many titles being sold out within hours of release. You may choose to Pre-Order many popular games before they are released to the public insuring that the game is secured for the customer with the game arriving a day or two after the official release. There are no extra charges in pre-ordering and this is a sure fire way to insure that you get your game before they are sold out.

Technical Specs
Manufacturer: Microsoft
Game Media: DVD, online downloadable files
Viewing Screen: TV / Monitor
Online Playable: YES via subscription based Xbox 360 Live
Available Controller Slots: 4 with wireless controller capabilities
Number of Games Available: The total number of games available seems to be a bit of a mystery. Not counting the Xbox 360 Live Arcade games there is a known amount of 587 games though I cannot verify how close this is to the actual number of games available. There is a list of Xbox 360 Games listed at wikipedia.org.
Gaming Accessories: At this writing there are many accessories available for the Xbox 360. Multi-button controller (many various types to choose from), keyboard, face plates (for changing the appearance of the gaming console), guitar and other musical instruments, gaming automobile steering wheel and pedals, headsets, video / webcam, surround sound system, External Data storage (hard drive, memory card), carrying cases and storage units, auxiliary cooling systems (the Xbox 360 has had some problems with it overheating), remote control, dance pad, and other accessories I am sure that I am missing

Nintendo Wii:
A unique feature of the Nintendo Wii, and one that makes it stand out from the rest of the gaming systems is it’s wireless controller, the Wii Remote, which can be used as a handheld pointing device and detect movement in three dimensions. This revolutionized the gaming industry in that many games call for you to act out actions such as swinging a sword or a tennis racket as opposed to sitting in your chair and pushing buttons. Of course this was a big hit with parents knowing that their children would at least have to stand up and get a bit of exercise.

The Nintendo Wii was the top selling gaming console sold during 2007 and revolutionized the meaning of video games by introducing a video game entitled the Wii Fit, that caused you to get out of your chair and exercise. The game includes all sorts of exercise competitions and has an exercise manager to help you keep track of your workouts.
Video games and exercise combined made for a newsworthy item and the Wii Fit sold off of the store shelves within hours. To date the Wii Fit is still hard to find except at inflated prices on Ebay.

The Nintendo Wii is also backwards compatible with the Nintendo Gamecube. Meaning that you can play old Gamecube Games on the Nintendo Wii. This does not include games released on Nintendo’s Virtual Console or WiiWare but there is a known amount of 518 games though again I cannot verify how close this is to the actual number of games available. There is a list of Nintendo Wii Games listed at wikipedia.org.
Gaming Accessories: Outplacing the Xbox 360 there are many accessories available for the Nintendo Wii.
Multi-button controller (many various types to choose from), keyboard, guitar and other musical instruments, gaming automobile steering wheel and pedals, headsets, video / webcam, surround sound system, memory card, carrying cases and storage units, various play weapons, remote control, dance pad, and other accessories I am sure that I am missing.

Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3):
The Sony PlayStation 3, also known as PS3, is the next in line of the 7th generation gaming consoles. The PS3 follows its predecessor, the PS2, as Sony’s next line of gaming systems. The PS2 was and I believe still is the leading gaming system of all time with over 140 million units sold to date.

A major feature that sets the PS3 above the PS2 is it’s online gaming service, the PlayStation Network. The PS3 was also the first Blu-ray 2.0-compliant Blu-ray player on the market. Other features include its multimedia capabilities, connectivity with the PlayStation Portable, and its use of a high-definition optical disc format, Blu-ray Disc. Several revisions to the system have been made with Sony now offering various versions such as the 20 GB model and the Premium model with a 60 GB hard drive.

Technical Specs
Manufacturer: Sony, Foxconn and ASUSTeK
Game Media: Blu-ray Disc, DVD, CD (all models), Super Audio CD (20 GB, 60 GB, 80 GB (CECHExx models)
Viewing Screen: TV / Monitor
Online Playable: YES via the free PlayStation Network
Available Controller Slots: up to 7
Number of Games Available: Once again the total number of games available seems to be a bit of a mystery. The PlayStation 3 is also backwards compatible with original PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games. Not counting the downloadable games from the PlayStation Network I found 442 games though again I cannot verify how close this is to the actual number of games available. There is a list of PS3 Games listed at wikipedia.org.
Gaming Accessories: Multi-button controller (many various types to choose from), console skins for changing the look or the system, keyboard, guitar and other musical instruments, gaming automobile steering wheel and pedals, headsets, surround sound system, hard drives to 160 GB, carrying cases and storage units, remote control, dance pad, cooling system, PlayStation 3 Eye, and more as I am sure that I am missing some.

These are the newest gaming systems available. Not to be forgotten are the portable gaming systems such as the Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) and the Nintendo DS. These gaming systems are small portable handheld systems perfect for the on the go gamer and for family vacations. The two mentioned do interact with their big brothers the PS3 and the Nintendo Wii respectively. But this is for another article as I am sure you have read quite enough about video game systems for the moment.

If there is an area where RC has advanced dramatically, it is in simulators. RC flight simulators used to be cheesy, but now are outstanding.

A Remote Control flight simulator is a computer software program in a video game format that allows you to replicate the feeling of flying an actual RC model airplane on your PC. The idea of flight simulation computer games was developed with some of the earliest gaming computers. The early flight simulators were not useful for RC training because the programs and graphics were still rather primitive.

Click to Get Best Flight Professional Simulator

The recent increased capacity for gaming and graphic reproductions as well as the more wide spread availability of Personal computers has led to a surge in the production and sales of flight simulator programs designed to simulate remote controlled flight. The best programs use a transmitter that is the same as the one used in actual flight situations. The transmitter is connected to the computer via a USB cable. Signals from the transmitter operate the simulated plane in the gaming display on the monitor exactly as a RC model would respond in actual flight.

The training possibilities are what make the flight simulator much more than just another computer game. The ability to simulate the exact conditions and feel of a real RC model plane allows a person to perfect his flying skills on the simulator without risk to his expensive actual RC model. The simple basic landing and takeoffs can be practiced until they can be done perfectly. The more advanced maneuvers can be practiced again and again until perfection is achieved. Then you are ready to try them out with a real plane.

Some of the better simulator programs include the Great Planes Realflight G3.5. It is considered by many to be the best software available. The G3.5 has several expansion modules that can be used with the basic program. This gives a person a wide choice of airplane types and graphic backgrounds. The Aerofly Pro Deluxe RC Flight simulator is another highly rated choice. It is possible to adapt your own transmitter for use with the software which gives an exact reproduction of the feel of the controls.

A third highly rated software program is the Reflex XTR. One of the features of these high quality flight simulators is the ability to reproduce not only various flying environments, but also weather and visibility conditions. Some can reproduce night flying or simulate out of sight control of the aircraft when it flies behind an object and out of line of sight. Most Hobby Shops that sell RC vehicles will carry the RC flight simulators or have information on how to obtain them. As the motto of one highly rated flight simulator promises, first they will teach you how to fly an RC model plane and then they will make you an expert.

This Gold Guide will teach you a great way to make gold within World of Warcraft. Follow the instructions and very soon your pockets will be overflowing with gold.

Prior to earning vast amounts of gold in game, you will need to do the following:

1) Create an auction house toon. You should create a new toon that is strictly for managing and selling your auction items. My auction house toon is named “Zauction”. With that name, it’s much easier to mail things to it because its name starts with “z”. After you create your auction house toon, make sure you add that toon to the friends list of your other toons.

2) (skip this part if you are on a PVP server) Create another auction house toon on the opposing faction’s side. If you are a Horde player, you will need to setup an Alliance toon and park it next to the auction house in Ironforge, Stormwind, or Darnassus. Same goes if you are an Alliance player.

3) (skip this part if you are on a PVP server) Create a new toon and move it to the neutral auction house in Winterspring, Gadzetzan, or Booty Bay. Do this for Alliance and Horde.

4) Do a web search for this site: Allakhazam. Go to that site and bookmark it. When you search for items at that website, you will notice that you get a “median AH price” with every search result. This price will be your gauge for determining the resale value of your items. Become familiar with using this website before you start selling items on the Auction House.

5) Analyze your toon. What are its natural strengths? For example, a hunter’s strongest asset is nature resistance. Any hunter can build a pet with the highest level of nature resistance and then turn on his Aspect of Nature. That will give his pet around 240 nature resist. What does this mean? It means that a hunter can kill mobs that do nature damage better than any other player class in game. Each player class has its own strength. You must determine what your strengths are before you can start earning large amounts of gold.

You will need approx. 1,000 gold before you can start earning larger sums. Hopefully you followed the first five steps and you have now determined what your toon’s greatest strengths are.

As a hunter, my greatest strength is nature resist. I can build a pet with the highest level of nature resist and when I activate Aspect of Nature, my pet will have approx. 240 NR. This makes my hunter very strong against any mobs that do nature damage.

For a level 70 hunter, the easiest mob to kill that drops a high priced item is an Air Elemental. You will find these primarily in Nagrand. You can turn on Aspect of Nature, let your pet tank, and kill three or four Air Elementals before you need to rest and/or heal your pet.

If you aren’t a hunter, you will need to find mobs that you can kill with ease. Are you strong against undead? Then you should be farming undead for netherweave cloth. Are you strong against casters? Then you should be farming caster-type mobs that drop valuable loot.

The lesson in this tutorial mirrors real life: in order to be successful, you must focus on your strengths.

What exactly does that mean? It means if you are weak against fire damage, do not waste your time farming Fire Elementals or any other mob that does fire damage. Instead, focus on mobs that you can kill with ease and then sell the items they drop on the auction house.

For gatherers:

If you are a flower-picker (herbalist) or a miner, you will find that materials found in areas with mob levels of 50-60 can be quite profitable to farm. The reason why flowers and ore found in those areas are more valuable is because the bulk of players are not playing at that character level (50-60). That means less farmers. And that makes those items hard to find on the auction house.

Now that you have a basic understanding of how to earn gold within game by actually working for it (aka farming), get to work! Farm items, mail them to your auction house toon, and then sell them on the AH. Save your gold until you have acquired approx. 1,000 gold cash.

After you have acquired a 1,000 gold cash, give yourself a nice pat on the back before continuing.

What do you think is the most profitable item to sell on the auction house? Motes? Primals? Cloth? Herbs? If you answered with any of those, you are wrong.

Here are the two, best selling items on the AH: BOEs (bind-on-equip items) and recipes!

In order to make large sums of gold in World of Warcraft, you need to sell BOEs and recipes.

The reason why BOEs and recipes are the best selling items is because they are in limited supply. They must drop from a mob in order to be found. Not only are they the best selling items, they also make it far easier for you to get rich.

How many gaming hours did it take to farm your 1,000 gold? 10 hours? 20 hours? Twenty hours is probably an accurate number to farm 1,000 gold in loot. (By the way, I commend you for completing this necessary task.)

By comparison, how long do you think it would take to farm a BOE item or recipe? Since the drop rate on both is an extremely low percentage, let’s just say it takes 100 gaming hours for every BOE that drops. And that is probably a modest estimate considering that I have seen only THREE epic BOEs drop in my entire World of Warcraft gaming experience.

But wait! Who said you have to actually farm BOEs and recipes to get them? That would be a precious waste of your game time! Wouldn’t you rather be running Karazhan or Gruul’s lair instead of killing mobs and hoping a BOE item or a recipe drops? Of course you would!

How do you acquire BOEs and recipes? You buy them on the trade channel or the AH.

A typical scenario might go like this: Another player is selling an epic BOE sword on the trade channel for 500 gold. Before you send him a whisper, you go to Allakhazam and do a search for the sword. You discover the sword is indeed worth 500g. Apparently this player has done his homework and is asking the correct price for the sword. Send him a whisper and say, “I’ll buy it, but it’s only worth 100 gold to me”. Most likely he will proceed to promptly cuss you out. But 8 times out of 10 he is desperate for cash (otherwise why is he selling the item on the trade channel?) and he will take your offer. This person will complain and try to get you to pay more, but your answer is always NO. If he doesn’t sell it to you, fine. If he does, then you turn around and put the sword on the AH with a 24-hour auction and a buyout of 500 gold or more.

I made at least 20,000 gold by using this exact strategy, and I had fun doing it! You will quickly develop a reputation of being a “reseller”. This is both good and bad. The bad is that people will get angry with you, mostly because they are envious of your ability to barter and make gold. The good part is that very soon players will come to you with BOEs and recipes because they know you have the cash to purchase whatever you want.

You should limit your purchase price to 20% to 30% of the “median AH price” found on the Allakhazam website. This leaves a safe margin in case you need to resell something at a much lower price than the listed median price.

You now have knowledge very few wow players possess. But do you have the skills to implement? Only you can answer that.

You have not lived until you build a working model airplane to fly around the sky indulging in your greatest passion of model airplanes.

I had a few planes myself but never really felt the same about them after I built my own, it was a proud day to say that I can build model airplanes! And the greatest thing was the fact that I could do it so much more cheaper than I would have paid in the hobby store.

Here is my plane in action..

I used a guide to teach me tips and secrets that I needed to know to build and complete my very own aircraft. Before reading this guide I thought that building my own plane would take years, and cost an arm and a leg.

In fact my first model aircraft took me under a month to build, and cost me a fraction of my other hobby aircraft’s. And best of all is to see it fly like an eagle.

Build Working Model Airplane – The Definitive Guide

That link above will get you started on the same aircraft building journey I went on, and you wont look back too!

The build working model airplane guide is not only about just building your plane, its also covers some of the following information.

Types of toy planes, static airplanes, flying models and gliders and sailplanes Types of model airplane engines, including two-cycle, diesel, Wankel, Gas Turbine and more How to choose the best engine for you and your plane Whether or not you should buy airplane insurance How to fly safely and smartly Pre-flight checks you should always make How to fly a model airplane More important flying tips Commonly asked model airplane questions Model airplane anatomy

I cant recommend this guide enough for any model airplane enthusiast, It’s full of some of the best tips I ever learnt in this hobby!

If you get the time, check it out for yourself. It really is a proud moment to finally finish a model airplane, and be able to say that you can build a working model airplane better than the pros.
