Of all the innovation that paved the way to the rise of electric RC flying, battery technology plays one of the biggest roles. Today, modern batteries have a much better power to weight ratio than before. This allows RC airplanes and helicopters to stay in the air for a lengthy period of time – even as long as their nitro counter parts, or even longer. Amongst the types of batteries, Li-Po or Lithium Polymer rates as the best your money can buy. While they cost much less than they used to, it is always wise to make sure that your Li-Po battery will last for as long as it could. This article will provide some pointers as to how to store your Li-Po battery for long periods without sacrificing its overall lifetime.

If the Li-Po battery is brand new and you decide to keep it for a while before putting it to first use, contrary to common sense, it is best not to store the battery in its uncharged state. The best practice is to fully charge it and maintain it at 4.2 V per cell before storing the battery away for a long time. For example, if you bought a 3-Cell Li-Po battery rated at 11.1 V, when fully charged, the battery will hold 12.6 V. This will make it suitable to keep stored away for 3 to 6 months. However, after 6 months, the voltage will start to weaken. When this happens, fully charge it again, whereby giving another 6 months of storage time. While this procedure can be performed over and over, the battery shouldn’t be kept without being used for more than 2 years.

If the Li-Po battery is fairly new and has been used no more than 70 times, has never reached temperature of more than 45 degrees, and never short circuited, the individual cells within the battery needs to be balanced before storage. This easily can be done through new versions of charger which has a “balance cell” function. Another method is to measure the voltage of each cell and set each cell to have an equal voltage to the least-voltage cell. The cells can be discharged using a simple-circuit light bulb making contact with individual cells, whereby slowly draining out each one. Once the cells are balanced, fully charge the battery, which will give each cell about 4.2 V. By doing this, the battery will be ready for a 2 to 4 month-long storage, upon which time the procedure must be repeated. Please note that ultimately, batteries of this condition stored using this procedure should not be kept for more than 1 year.

For batteries that are in a sorry state, such as having been used more than 70 times and have reached temperature higher than 60 degrees and has been short-circuited plenty of times, the first thing to keep in mind is to not hope for much. The procedure for storing these batteries still remains the same as the procedure above. Balance the cells first then charge the battery fully before storage. However, the result won’t be great.

As for the storage, keep the battery in a zip-locked bag and place it in a padded aluminum or stainless container (such as a cookie box). Keep the box away from sunlight and humidity. The reason for the stainless box is to protect your house from fire which may be ignited by batteries short-circuiting. Better safe than sorry right?

Facts, oddities, incidental details: these are only some of the few things I examine in the following twenty features I have come up with concerning life and all its intricacies. Some will make you laugh, others will make you scratch your chin, but whatever your behaviour, each and every one of these twenty or so queries.

1) Ever used 3-second glue (or instant glue and super glue as it is called in some countries)? Why does it stick so quickly as soon as you squeeze it out but it doesn’t stick to the sides of the tube from which you squeeze it out?

2) Sanity statistics has proven that one out of four people are insane or suffer from some form of mental disease. Think of three of your best friends. If they are fine, then you must be the fourth one.

3) If you have either a television or a Video Receiver or a DVD or anything that needs a remote controller, this odd behaviour is familiar. Have you noticed that whenever the batteries begin to get dull, we press down harder? Are we expecting to squeeze more out of them?

4) Watched old (and even newer descriptions in film) about Tarzan. If he is supposed to be living in the wild, what happened to his beard?

5) Switched those bulbs that are enclosed in tight plastic shutters? Have you noticed that whenever you go to do that there are always dead bugs inside? How did they manage to get there?

6) Still use plastic bags instead of the more nature-friendly paper ones? Ok. Then, pray tell, why can’t I ever manage to open one on my 1st attempt?

7) Why, pray tell, do doctors just about to inject a prisoner with a lethal injection check that the needle is sterilized?

Have you noticed that if your bank account gets overdrawn, your bank will add an extra charge? Why do they do that? Should you maybe inform them that the reason your checkings account is overdrawn is because you don’t have money?

9) Mother-in-laws are jokes about continuously, but why not father-in-laws?

10) If people run into a sign near a park bench saying that the paint is wet, every one will touch it to check. If this is so, why don’t these same folk verify the star count of around four billion stars so stated according to various scientists?

11) Why do we return to the refrigerator and gaze in when we know that there’s nothing interesting to eat inside?

12) Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest but ducks if after the bullets are over the gun is thrown at him?

13) I’m sure you’ve heard of the evolutionary claim that mankind has evolved from monkeys. Before I am to believe this, I want to know that if this is so why are monkeys still roaming earth?

14) Why is it that when we try to catch something that is falling off a table, our hand knocks down something else?

15) Heard of the Jap airplane pilots who towards the end of the Second World War crashed their planes into American naval ships? Why did these guys even think of wearing a helmet?

16) The next you vacuum your living room floor, explain what happens when you try to vacuum a tiny thread. The vacuum will not be able to suck it. Why then will you pick it up, examine it thoroughly and instead of placing it in the dustbin, throw it back down and try to vacuum it up again?

17) How come soap bubbles are always white no matter what the colour of the soap?

18) Is it winter or summer wherever you are right now? Have you noticed that if it is summer we try and make the house as cold as it would be during winter, and if it is winter, we try and make the house as hot as it would during summer?

19) Why is it that whenever you walk past a mattress dealership, they have large signs advertising a big price reduction?

20) Isn’t it silly that when if wandering through one of the large shopping malls someone doesn’t pay attention and the cart they are pushing smacks into your toes, and then they say sorry, all we can think of saying is that no harm was done while your toe is aching.

Before I End:

Above you have run into about twenty or so intriguing incidents on life that I or some friend of mine has come across. Most will be familiar to you. Some might not. But, I hope that each one of them will if not make you at least laugh, bring a wry smile to your face and to your heart.

Under normal circumstances, Rammy Johnson writes for an online casino guide and depicts roulette playing and the such, but Rammy also loves comedy and he indulges himself in it whenever he can.

While many thinks that it takes money to make money, I will show you several tips on how to make money on the internet without a single dime! Many internet millionaires are created this way and I’m going to show you their secrets.

How to make money on the internet tip #1 – Have you heard of bum marketing? You simply write an article, sit and wait just like a bum and you can expect money to start flowing in just like that. Once you have written, it will stay online for many months and even years. You don’t need perfect English to write an article, just plain simple English will do.

It doesn’t need to be long, just 300 to 500 words are good enough. However, there is some basic technique you need to know, so that your article will land on the 1st page of Google search engine in just a few days instead of getting indexed in a few months!

How to make money on the internet tip #2 – So you are a good writer and you love to write. Ideas just flow to your brain and you can write just about anything under the sun. Good news for you, there are thousands of people on the internet looking to outsource the writing of their articles, and these people are willing to pay anywhere from $5-$15+ per article to have you do it for them.

Imagine that you are paid $10 per 300-500 words article and you could finish such article in 10 minutes, you will be easily making $60 an hour at the comfort of your home and at the same time enjoying it!

How to make money on the internet tip #3 – If you have been visiting forums very often and not making some money out of it, you are losing big. There is “cash lying on the table” in virtually any forums you can find on the internet and there are already many Internet marketers fully leveraging the potential to earn thousands online.

There are many forums out there ranging from topics such as dieting to electronics to model airplanes and making money. The secret about forums is that people are looking for answers or solutions to their problems. There is great opportunity to take advantage of this by offering something that will help people solve these problems.

All you need to do is promote relevant products through your signature in forums. Provide ‘valuable’ content to the forum and become a regular contributor.

When you are planning on a radio airplane project, there will be a few items you cannot do without on your list of things to buy. We will consider some of the most important ones here, but no doubt you will need more as per the particular design you are using. Some items you can use over and over again on different projects, while some will come in handy just for one project.

1. The body material – Your model plane will be made of balsa wood. So this is the most obvious material you will need to purchase. Some plans may make use of other materials, but most usually it is balsa wood that model planes are made of, since it is light weight. On the other hand if you are planning on a large model, you could use a deiffrent kind of wood or another material.

2. The mechanics – your model air plane will need a motor, and the radio unit to steer and fly it. You could very well buy each part seperately if you are an experienced campaigner at this. But if you are not, we strongly advise that you buy a kit, where everything comes connected so there is no confusion there.

3. A good modellers’ knike – The X ACTO is a popular choice with model craft builders. It is a very simple tool, but irreplacabble when you need to cut out the balsa here and there. Such knives are commonly available from local grecers to the hobby stores across the country. They are simple and do not need to be purchased from a specialist supplier. But do make sure you have one.

4. Glue – Whatever your choice of building material, you will need to find a way to hold the fuselage of your craft together. Superglue is a favorite with model air plane makers, as is epoxy. Both are good agents to hold wood together. If you are using material other than wood, find out what works best with that material. When making a boat you need to worry about water proofing so you need to use sealant apart from the glue.

5. An electric Cutter – when you are making a miniature model you really dont need a high power electric saw to cut your stuff. A hand held table model would do fine. But do use a Dremel for the finer edges. It is miniature and hand held.

Everything mentioned in this article is easy to find, and not very highly priced either. As you go along you will no doubt require a few more tools. What we have here is the most basic of tool kits you will want to make your model craft. Finally, the tool of craftsmanship is as important as any hardware. Work with patience and with care.

With strong technological advancement gone into the whole area of flight simulation, it is now a positive time to fulfill your dream. As those with more experience are probably aware, products and add-ons are available to make the whole game simulation much more fun.

A flight simulator is a software system that is intended to give the users the feeling of flying an actual aircraft. The degree of reality in the flight sim actually depends upon the kind of technology being used and the computer hardware available. Today, there are a number of flight simulation games and establishments, which guarantee to give you the thrill of flying an actual aircraft, while keeping you away from the risks involved in doing so.

There are a number of uses that flight simulators have been put to in the past. The civil and military aviation industries have been constantly using these systems to train and teach pilots how to actually fly different types of aircraft and how to act in different sorts of scenarios and failures. One of the oldest flight simulators was developed just after World War I to help pilots fire a machine gun in a moving cockpit replica. By having a simulator the pilot could learn how to aim in a environment that cost less, and had minimal hazards.

More recently, the gaming industry has realized the huge potential in flight simulation software. With the continual evolution of this type of software, actual aircraft flying is now available to anyone and everyone who wants to experience the thrill. Flight pro sim is one of the newest games around the block, offering unmatched and unparalleled flight simulation experience.

Are you ready to treat yourself this year to a fantastic, enjoyable and unforgettable Christmas present?

With the technology that is now available in the market and your imagination running wild, the sky is now not the limit when it comes to getting the ultimate flight simulation experience. So, go on, grab a good game or two, design your own cockpit and go flying!

Rest assured, I have tested out nearly every Flight Sim on the market today, and I have found one which I can personally recommend.

Stop wasting your money and time on disappointing flight simulators.

The Qantas jet was without instrument landing systems at the time of the emergency landing into Manila, after sustaining damages by an exploding oxygen bottle, investigators have confirmed.
The Melbourne-bound Qantas aircraft, a Boeing 747-400, was flying at 29,000 feet when the crew was forced to make an emergency descent after a section of the fuselage separated and resulted in a rapid decompression of the cabin.
The crew diverted the aircraft to Manila to carry out a safe landing of over 300 passengers on board.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) has confirmed that the aircraft’s three instrument landing systems and the anti-skid system were not available for the arrival at Manila.
“However, evidence indicates that all the aircraft’s main systems, including engines and hydraulics, were functioning normally,” said ATSB spokesman Julian Walsh.
The investigation has also found that a piece of the oxygen tank entered the passenger cabin and hit an emergency door handle, making it part way into the open position.
Mr Walsh said, however, the door latches were still engaged at the time of the incident and there was no danger of the door opening due to its design.
The ATSB said the aircraft cockpit voice recorder (CVR) was downloaded by safety specialists, but the two-hour recording which works on an endless loop principle did not contain the event.
The aircraft was moved to a hangar for further investigation and the remainder of the freight on the aircraft has been examined and removed from around the area of the rupture.
A number of components and parts of components are being retained for further examination and analysis at the ATSB engineering facilities in Canberra.

The aircraft fuel prices go up like crazy. This is making flying an airplane a very expensive venture. Wouldn’t you be happy do discover a way to fly without buying fuel?

That is possible if you try flying an ultralight glider – an aircraft without engine. There are several types of gliders and in this article I’ll let you know about the most important and popular of them.

Ultralight Gliders

The gliders are airplanes which can fly without without engine and fuel. They look very much like normal airplanes and can have a closed or open cockpit and various kinds of wings.

A good glider will let you soar in the sky like a bird – for hours. And the only time you need power will be the time of taking off the ground.

There are two ways to take off the glider. With the most popular method you need another airplane which has engine. The glider and the airplane are connected with a rope. Once your glider get high enough to soar freely, the rope is released and you are free. The motorized airplane can land. Thus you have to pay only for few minutes powered fly. However, obviously there is another pilot engaged in this operation.

The other method is usually more cost effective. It’s called winch launching. Here you use a land locked engine which is connected thru a long rope to your glider. The which quickly picks up the glider and the pilot releases the rope when he is ready to fly on his own.

The glider prices are close to the prices of an ultralight airplane, but the glider’s usage is much cheaper, because you don’t need fuel. The only problem is that you must to to an airport which offers service for taking off gliders – either winch launching or thru another airplane who can take your off.

Hang Gliders

The hand gliders known also as deltaplanes are a lighter version of the gliders discussed above. They are constructed for one or two pilots and are attached directly to your body. You are freely soaring, there is no cockpit or anything like that.

The hang gliders are cheap and easy to use. You don’t need other airplane or a winch launching engine to take of. Instead of that you just need to go to a high place (for example the closest to you mountain) and run for few meters on your feet. Then jump, and here you are flying!

The hang glider will also let you fly for hours as long as there are appropriate weather conditions and wind. No special education or license is required.

A brand new hang glider can be bought for about $5,000, but you can find second hand much cheaper (under 2k).

Paragliders

If you think flying a hang glider is not easier enough, I’ll suggest you look at even simpler option. The Paragliders are lighter than the hang gliders/deltaplanes. Instead of having hard wing, their wing is soft and looks like a parachute. When you are done with your flying you can pick up your paraglider, put it in a large backpack and go home.

The hang glider wing needs storage place, while the paraglider can be put in your wardrobe.

The paragliders – just like hang gliders – don’t need anyone to take them off. You just need to go at a high place, run, jump and start flying.

The paragliders are probably the easiest and cheapest method for flying and sky diving. A brand new paraglider can cost about $3,000. An used one can be found for less than $1000. If you really want to fly but have not done that yet, I can only ask you what else are you waiting for.

Flying for fun is possible without engine, expensive aircraft or license. It is easy, cheap and ecological.
